I have been wanting to find a good mix between this style of brushy, shadowy goodness and my typical style. I think I will try to work on that in the coming weeks. This image was inspired by this photo, I used the guy on the far right. I really do like the way this looks, I just think it would be hard to do a full book in this style.
One of the first artists I ever met when I got into comics was Dan Hipp. He was kicking all kinds of ass on his Image book The Amazing Joybuzzards and he took that energy and pumped it into his creator-owned book GYAKUSHU! for Tokyopop. Well, Dan's put up the first 2 G! books up online with a generous preview of book #3. Go read it all, and fall in love with this dude! This is his character The Fish King.
Spent most of yesterday and all day today finishing up a mural for my Mom. I hate painting and haven't even attempted any painting this size in about 18 years. Hope she likes it, I don't, my girlfriend helped and was magnificent the whole time.
Simple and somewhat unsuccessful redesign of Bionic-1 from my favorite cartoon series of all time. Bionic Six. I really wish I was somehow able to write and draw a comic version of that.
